Founded in 1930, Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is a community of transportation professionals including transportation engineers, transportation planners, consultants, educators, technologists and researchers. Through meetings, seminars, publications, and other activities ITE works to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. Transportation engineering, traffic engineering, hydrology and materials which are important and closely related to Civil Engineering and there was a strong need to conduct education and research in to new forms of these fields.
To respond these demands, NED University of Engineering and Technology jumps in and establish a whole degree program which aims to excel the students in this field. Thus, the department of Urban and Infrastructure Engineering Department was established in NED University of Engineering and Technology in 2001. The vision behind creating this department was to develop a center of excellence in Urban Engineering. The devotion of students towards the department is the core strength of the department.
